“This was the workshop that I didn’t know I needed.”

“I left feeling refreshed and excited to explore more.”

“Chris held the space with grace and ease, the pace was perfect.”

Embodied relating - how does it work?

This work can change how you relate to yourself, to other people, and to the world around you.  We start with breathing and movement exercises that will bring your attention into your physical body. From there we move to working in pairs. We’ll use guided movement practices to help become aware of the patterns we exhibit when in connection with another person.

This is a valuable opportunity to notice our patterns when relating to others. More often than not our habitual ways of being are subconscious. The patterns we exhibit are informed by past experiences that are sometimes no longer relevant to us and at worst may be holding us back when relating to others.

In noticing our current patterns we can name them and loosen their power over us. We can then play, explore, and try out new ways of connecting with other people in a safe space. What are the benefits of this work?

You will learn to embody new and more authentic ways of connecting with yourself and with others.

Other benefits might include:

Feeling relaxed, open and more present in your body

Learning about your relating patterns and how to transform them

Finding new ways to connect with other people more deeply

Becoming more present and in tune with your feelings and instincts

What you can expect

Throughout this workshop you’ll be guided on a journey of self-observation, and personal reflection using the breath, the body and movement. This work is inspired by principles from various movement practices including yoga, chi-gong and contact improvisation. All exercises are simple and accessible and require no prior movement experience.

Practical things you can expect during the time together:

Working alone with your breath and body and being given space to ‘tune in’

Sharing in pairs and discussing what you notice about yourself in confidence

Witnessing how others are influenced by your ways of moving and meeting

Being held in a safe and non-judgmental space and learning as a group

Expanding your capacity for dance, natural movement and body confidence

Who is this for?

This work is for anybody curious to develop self-awareness, understand more about quality relating, and figure out ways to live with more fullness and purpose. This work is intentionally designed to be inclusive and appropriate to everybody regardless of relationship status, sexual orientation, gender, race or financial standing..  Here you have an opportunity to work on your attachment style, on trusting others and being trusted, on leading or being followed. Please reach out to Chris if you have any questions.
